We are seeking an Audio/Visual Technician to setup and install media equipment (LCD projectors, speakers, TVs, video monitors, cameras, etc..), equipment racks and other A/V tools, as well as ensure all systems operate at peak performance by troubleshooting and adjusting A/V system as required. The work will be performed at a customer site in Washington, DC.
Essential Job Functions:
- Support Zoom, Microsoft Teams, & other audio/video teleconferencing technologies for the agency.
- Install and configure desktop, conference Polycom systems, or Teams & Zoom supported phones/video systems.
- Periodically upgrade software and firmware for the audio/video equipment.
- Proficiency in mechanical fabrication of equipment rack and wiring.
- Diagnose complex system problems.
- Manage medium to large projects.
- Installation of audiovisual systems – including rack fabrication, site preparation, termination, and calibration of audio and video equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with audio, video, switching, and control systems.
- Conduct testing of AV cables and or equipment.
- Set-up TVs, projector mounts, racks, and other AV equipment.
- Provide outstanding customer service and develop working relationships with their clients.
- Resolve problems and equipment malfunctions under pressure.
- Computer skills – working with various computer technology to include Microsoft Window10 and preferably Teams & Zoom.
- Customer service – interfacing with customers and guests to make sure their desires are met, and that equipment is functioning.
- Tools of the Trade – Comfortable using the following equipment in a typical workday: Audio and video equipment (cable boxes, AV receivers, media players, microphones, power speakers, mixers), IP network equipment (Ethernet and AVB cables), Computer systems (PC operating systems).
- Evaluate equipment needs and notify management of need to repair or replace
- Utilize proper safety practices and procedures in line with A/V equipment
- Maintain a variety of files and records of equipment and manuals in conjunction with the Technology department.
- Ensure that sufficient spares are stocked to maintain or replace equipment for which responsibility is held, including consumables.
- Perform inventory management of equipment, wirings, and accessories to avoid any shortages
- Setup and operate audio visual equipment for trainings, presentations, meetings, and conferences
- Perform equipment additions, removals, repairs, replacements, and inspections
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions
- Assemble and disassemble audio visual equipment as needed
- Test equipment to ensure it is in good and safe working conditions
- Prioritize and complete work orders accurately and timely
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Windows Desktop, and Microsoft Surface Hub
- Customer service skills (to be able to communicate with all customers, but especially those of VIP status)
- Self-starter and self-motivator
- Ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in written format
- Ability to maintain the accuracy of knowledge articles
- An understanding of network technology
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and coordination abilities
- Ability to take ownership and responsibility
